Nancy Manke

Ms. Manke holds a B.A. in French from Pennsylvania State University and has recently begun studying Psychology.

Her professional background is varied. Her early career was sociopolitically based. She began her career as a caseworker for Senator William B. Saxbe in Washington, D.C., and later became Press Assistant to U.S. Congressman J. Edward Roush. After a move to Buffalo, NY, she began working with children in the Youth Development Program of the Community Action Organization and later was hired as a research assistant for the Erie County Office of Criminal Justice Planning.

Nancy then turned her many talents to the business arena. For ten years, she managed and operated The Folk Art Shop, Ltd., a very successful small business in New Haven, CT. She recently retired from The Foote School in New Haven, CT where amongst her duties she was a facilitator in the North Star fifth grade program for ten years.

Her top priority has always been as mother to two, now grown, children. She has a new grand daughter (who she hopes will one day be a member of a North Star group!). She feels fortunate that throughout her career she has been able to pursue employment which has utilized her skills in public relations and writing in an atmosphere serving children.
