The animal cards serve as the means for the facilitator to introduce the girls to self exploration. Each girl is asked to identify herself with the characteristics described on one or more of the animal cards. Some girls discover aspects of their own personality; others think about the characteristics they would like to emulate. The cards are used throughout the program as the girls often use renditions of “their” animal or animals in the various art projects included in the North Star program. These are 5 examples of the many animal cards used in the North Star Program.
